The thickest and softest cashmere hat you'll ever put on. We use a double rib construction for extra durability and resistence to stretch over time. This style hat averages around 110g of fiber, which is a lot. You will understand the quality when you get your hands on it. I always hated buying a cashmere or wool hat and then it stretching out too much over time. This is my response to that.

Built for a normal-ish head size. If you know you have a big or small dome, let me know and I can make one to size for an extra $50. These are meant to fit around a 22.5" head.

Expect the hats to be slightly tight for the first couple of wears but to break in a bit after putting some heat through it. Let me know if you want to combine shipping and I can reduce the price by $45.

Hand-Made in Mongolia

Whether its 100% cashmere, yak wool, camel wool, or sheep wool, ULA+LIA has made yarn soup-to-nuts in Mongolia for 10 years. In 2025, I started working with a friend to turn the same world-class knitting yarn into one-of-a-kind knitted garments.

We split selling apparel between a local cafe/shop here in Ulaanbaatar and through our website. We put stuff online for a few weeks and then move it to the shop on consignment.

What does hand-made mean?

It means I personally make every item on my hand-driven knitting machine and my friend hand-dyes every item in my apartment in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from yarn sourced and manufactured 100% in Mongolia.

It means even if we try to make the same product again, the embellishments and dye will always be at least a little bit different. It means your item is truly unique.

What doesn't hand-made mean?

It doesn't mean the product is going to look machine-made, or is necessarily a better quality than machine-made items. I hand-seam these items, and it's kinda hard. The seams might not be perfectly straight, and seam ends may look less than perfect.

It's possible somebody may ask you if you made it yourself. The  answer to that question will be, "No, these two dudes made it in their apartment in Mongolia." And then they will say, "Mongolia? They have apartments there? That's a crazy piece."

Other stuff that's cool I guess

I don't know what else to say here. We make these, wash them, and then just kind of lay them flat to dry. Large manufactures tend to aggressively block their items, i.e. they wash and then stretch and iron their sweaters into shape. We don't do this, so I think after a lot of wearing and washing, they are still going to hold their same shape better over time. Maybe. I don't really know to be honest, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Also, if an item is listed as 100% cashmere, (or any fiber), it's literally 100% that fiber. All of the seams and even the yarn holding the tag are that fiber. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's kinda cool I guess.

Sizing and stuff

Check the individual product notes for sizing and other product notes. Want changes? We can make custom colors and sizes for an added fee. But sometimes we drink when we dye stuff, so don't expect custom colors to come out as an exact match, that's not how things work.

No returns, so check sizing details carefully. Sizing charts show measurements taken from the unique item photographed.

You should follow us on Instagram to see the new products we put up weekly(ish).

Shipping

We ship directly from Mongolia. Expect a couple of weeks for shipping. A couple more for custom designs.
