I do love the feel of yak fiber! This has such a nice twist, it will be wonderful to work with! the mulberry purple is so deep and rich - it's destined to be a tee of some form. I haven't knit it yet, but it will be hitting the needles soon!
I made 2 swatches.one with US 4 wood needles and the other with US 2.5 metal needles. The yarn was easy on my hands to knit because it was not slippery on the needles. It is a relaxing yarn to knit with. The swatch using the larger needle filled in the space between stitches when washed, and the swatch on the smaller needles still had a nice feel and drape.
The platinum gray color is amazing and I have a pattern picked out for this yarn. I don't mind washing the spinning oil out, because the price is very reasonable for a luxury yarn. The yarn shipped when promised and there were no issues with the delivery or packaging.
I hope there will continue to be yak yarn available and would like to expand my color choices next time.
This yarn is soft and squishy. The color is the most incredible purple I've ever soon.
The mulberry is a classic in the yak for sure, thank you Linda!

I'm very pleased with this yarn! It is a soft slightly Smoky teal color that I think is absolutely beautiful! It's definitely a lace weight but a little bit on the thicker side. I actually prefer this because it will be easier to work with. I haven't used it yet but it feels very soft in its hank. Communication has excellent throughout the entire process and my order came very quickly.
Thanks again Alice, I hope you like it as much as the camel!
This is an a very lovely light, warm brown color. I haven't had a chance to wind a cake yet but just holding the yarn in the skein I can tell it is very soft. The shipping was very fast and I got excellent communication on the progress off the project. I am very happy and I'm looking forward to ordering for next year. I'm planning on using the yarn for a crocheted shawl, when I have something to show I will post a picture
Thank you Alice, glad you like it. I look forward to seeing the project!
These socks are great. Keep me warm, but also light and cooling when it warms up.
They are soft and so comfortable. I wasn't sure what to expect, but they've been really awesome so far.
I wear them with house slippers inside to help keep them from wearing out. I'm hoping they last for a deec amount of time.
I run in mine during the cold season and they are fine for me even with heavy use and washing. Direct wear on carpet/flooring is a bit rough, but they hold up pretty well if there's not a ton of loose friction!
Very soft and light weight, can't wait to find the perfect pattern for this beautiful yarn!
Finding patters is always the hardest part. I hope the search was fruitful!
I love the color. I'd have bought many more skeins, but that was all that was left! Looking forward to making a thick, warm ribbed hat.
The classics for the cashmere are always great. I'm sure it will be perfect for a hat!
I hate to say how exquisite this yarn is because I want to keep this yarn a secret so there is more for me ;-))
Thank you Sherry, glad you like it! I'll try to keep some extra laying around ;)
I haven't actually knit the bulky yarn yet, but I made a cowl out of the DK weight sheep wool/cashmere yarn in Natural White and Agean Sea. I love how it turned out. Not as soft as the 100% cashmere, but I expected that.
I'm sure you'll like the bulky too! Hope you have fun with your projects.
One skein was enough to knit a man's hat. I especially like that the lighter weight yarn colors match, so I'll be knitting a scarf in the same color with a lighter weight yarn and use the same stitch pattern to make a nice set.
Sounds like a good plan for both projects. Happy to hear you enjoy the yarn!
The socks seem smartly designed-- they have a very cushy sole, cozy ankle, and are light on the top of the foot. They're never too hot or too cold. They have some very light pilling after one use, so we'll see how long they last. But I'm wearing them indoors on bare floors, which is not recommended in the product description, so I accept if they have a shorter life.
Yes I hope they keep you comfortable and warm! Durability can vary depending on use, but always warm and squishy!
It's so so soft! I have two projects planned with the yarn - one solid gray shawl and one striped shawl with the platinum gray and the purple. Mmmmm! The yarn was an early birthday present and thank you from another fiber artist who visited for 4.5 days. Aren't I lucky?
Great gift indeed! Mixing with the mulberry sounds like a good choice, the naturals and the dyed items in the same fiber always seem to go together great. Have fun with the project!
This yarn is soft and the color is fabulous. It will make a great wrap/shawl. It arrives quickly.
Thank you Linda, I hope you enjoy the project!
This is wonderful and am searching for a special project to use it in. Most likely a top down stranded yoke pullover using some of my other Ula & Lia yarns👍🏼😍
Mixing the fibers is always a good choice, have fun with it Margo!
I am surprised at the softness and even consistency of the yarn. I am making a small swatch of straight stitching flat. The stitches are even without distortion, and the yarn is soft but not slippery. I think this yarn would make a beautiful lace item or could be carried with another yarn or held double. This yarn has a lot of possibilities, I wish I had bought a few more skeins of it.
Definitely a lot of possibilities. Doubling it will be slightly thicker than fingering weight (lace is 2 plies, fingering is 3 plies, DK is 6). Thank you for the review and have fun finding a project!
I love baby camel! It works up with such nice stitch definition and that subtle halo. The moss color is just lovely. This is going to be a beautiful shawl!
That's great to hear, enjoy knitting up your shawl!
My cashmere was the softest and most luxurious fiber. The dye was consistent throughout the skeins so I know that my sweater will be fantastic. Jon gives amazing and attentive customer service. It is hard to believe that I got six skeins of pure cashmere for about the cost of regular merino. I am a repeat Kickstarter customer and I will be back for next year's campaign!
Thank you for the continued support Alisa! And yes, we dye the fiber and not the finished yarn, and then blend everything again before spinning to assure there are no dye issues in the same. See you in July for the next campaign
I knit this yarn into a cowl, and while working with it I could feel the spinning oils. Then I soaked and hand washed the cowl 6 times using dish soap, until the yellow dye no longer leached into the water. Unfortunately, the resulting fabric is only as soft as merino! I was expecting cashmere soft. The result is fine, if disappointing, and I will not be buying bulky weight cashmere yarn again.
Hi Laura, sorry to hear it wasn't as soft as you hoped. The bulky weight was always spun a bit tight to get the balance of the yarn to work, which is great for durability but at a bit of a tradeoff for softness. This is one of the reasons we discontinued the bulky weights. The good news is that it will wear like iron but also soften up over the years and more washing. Regardless, I'm not happy if you aren't, so please check your email!
Beautiful fibre. I'm looking forward to spinning and weaving with it!
Thank you for the review! I hope your project turns out great
Just finished my second sweater with this yarn and am very happy. The color is deep, the fabric is soft and sturdy, and the whole knitting process was pure joy! My first sweater of this yarn shows some pilling, but it's not too bad. Will definitely get more in the future for more lovely projects!
It looks great, thank you for sharing, hard to beat a yak wool cardi!
I'm in love with this yarn. It's nice and soft and the color is rich and earthy. Can't wait to start my next project.
Thank you Kim, hope you have fun with it!
I have been buying yarn from ULA+LIA for several years. I prefer the yak yarn. It's warm, soft and not itchy, and a pleasure to knit with.
This is a great websitr to purchase yarn, they are very reputable. Their prices are fair and the quality of the yarn is excellent.
Thank you for the words and for sharing the project, it looks awesome! It's always great to see what the yarn turns into
